The Republic of Ireland Ladies Snooker Association commences their 2016-2017 season with 128 players on their National Ranking List.   All these players have earned points over the past two years playing in RILSA Ranking events and we at RILSA are delighted with the support from our many schools and all the players who have took time out to play snooker during the two seasons.

We had a total of 151 players on our ranking list at the end of last season and we hope to break that record this season with the help and support of our schools and now our 100+ Youth reach centres who joined recently.

Tables are on their way to many youth reach centres around Ireland during the coming months and this initiative has really taken off for us as we dominate women’s cue sports here in Ireland and indeed in the World.  We hope that our success will help spur on more women and young girls to take up the sport in the future.

RILSA is now a vibrant youthful organisation leading the way forward for women and girls and our initiatives and development of our association has certainly secured a bright future for our women and girls.

A new change in our culture is happening because of our hard work and dedication with our member schools and youth reach around the country and its fantastic to see this in progress, though it’s a slow process as schools have to get used to another sport and it will take some time to adjust and set up structures within each school to work within their already busy schedules and programs.

As I found out 7 years ago that every school while disciplined with certain criteria and schedules have to be met each year, every school have their own rules and guidelines when it comes to sport and making time and after school projects to cater for this is no mean task.  We are looking forward to working closely with our member schools and youth reach centres in the year ahead.

On the 29th March 2016 we had to set up five other associations (Munster, Connaught, Leinster, Ulster and Dublin) in order to cater for our growing association, more to follow on these associations in the months ahead as they set out their plan for the new season.
