The Republic of Ireland Ladies Snooker Association had yet another busy year in 2017 with many new initiatives and events packed into the 12 months. Back as far as 2004, RILSA only held the National Amateur Championship along with 6 ranking events each year.  Since the revival of RILSA over 50 events have been held in 2017 alone such is the success of the Association in a very short period. Carlow Team top Leinster Federation League – First half of League Season

The Carlow team of Annette Newman & Dan Carroll are holding a 14 point lead over Morristown team of Richard Cullen & John Dempsey as the first half of the newly formed Leinster Snooker Federation Leagues ends just before Christmas. The League is a great success with 7 teams participating from Carlow, Offaly, Laois and Kildare. Joey’s A team Top Dublin Snooker Federation League after 1st half of season ends

The Joey’s A team made up of Pierce Sloan and Pat Holmes are 16 points ahead of last years winners Griffith A team of Dave Seales and Darragh Hackett as the first half of the Dublin Snooker Federation Leagues ends before Christmas. Annette Newman is National Billiards Champion 2017 – 3 in a row for Annette

Annette Newman from Carlow retained her National Billiards Title at Sharkx recently making it 3 in a row after a great display of Billiards during the round robin timed matches. Annette accumulated her highest ever score finishing on 276 points with Christine Carr from Kildare taking runner up place on 187 followed in 3rd by Valerie Maloney from Offaly with 138 points.  It was great to see the young Roisin Beale from Kildare break the 100 mark with 119 points on the day.
