Adam O’Shea from Sharkx Newbridge won the U17 Stars Academy Ireland Championship recently.

Adam had to work hard all the way through to the final as his opponents were in good form, starting with the last 16 match with Luke O’Callaghan (Laois) 2-1, the Quarter final with Josh Bates from Laois was a close affair again going down to the pink in the 3rd frame.  In the semis Adam had another close encounter with Jack Maloney (Offaly) going to the black in the 3rd frame in which he potted for a place in the final.

The other half of the draw saw Robbie Keogh (Laois) also having close matches, in the Quarters against Sean O’Connor from Kilkenny, it went to the pink ball in the last frame to advance to a semi final meeting with current U16 Schools National Champion, Darragh Fullam from Laois, again Robbie had to play well to get through with a 2-1 win to meet Adam in the final.

The final was close even though it was a 2-0 win for Adam as Robbie had chances to take both frames also, however it was Adam who stuck to his guns and potted the balls needed to win.

Congratulations to Adam on his win and to Robbie on his fine performance.

Thanks to everyone for their support and to all the players, well done to one and all

Thanks to Bernie, Paul and staff of Sharkx for all their help and support
