The €3,000 Griffith Snooker Tour got underway at Sharkx snooker club in Newbridge on Saturday 18th February and a good day’s snooker was had by all the players. This tour will be played in clubs within the Leinster area and the prize fund is accumulative over 8 events. In the quarters Larry O’Dea had a good 2 nil win over Robert Rogers. Father & Son match between Dave and Gary Seales saw the first frame go to Dave with a 39 break but Gary came back to level at 1-1 the 3rd frame was nip and tuck with Gary potting brown to pink to give him a semi final place. Annette Newman was in fine form against Dan Carroll winning 2 nil for a semi final place. Stephen McSherry and Stephen McAdam had a very close match with Stephen McAdam going through 2 frames to nil. The semi finals saw some great snooker and tactical play. Larry took the first on a black ball with Gary coming back in the second also on a black ball to level. Gary played some good tactical play in the 3rd to take him in to the final on the other table Stephen McAdam took the first frame with a break of 33 Annette came back to take the next on a black ball to level the match. The 3rd frame was close all the way but Annette had the upper hand and potted green to pink to meet Gary in the final. The final saw the first frame very scrappy with Gary taking it on the Pink. Annette had chances in the next but Gary potted well to take the first tour event thus putting him top of the ranking. Congratulations to Gary on his win and to Annette on her fine performance on the day.
