At the RILSA Awards Ceremony in Tullamore recently, the Lifetime Achievement Award was bestowed to Annette Newman from Carlow.

Annette is always there helping and encouraging our players and especially the young girls who appreciate her and look to her for guidance.  With over 40 years of dedication and since we reformed RILSA back in 2014, has never missed an event, such is her commitment.  Her position with the Board as National Treasurer is much appreciated and her broad knowledge of the sport and its organisational structure is a valuable asset to RILSA.

In her playing ability, Annette has been to the forefront of Irish Ladies snooker for many years and her season to date is outstanding, having won the National Championship for the second time along with the Maureen Butler Cup, shows great success for her as a player. Her National Billiards Championship win back in December 2018 and securing number 1 in both Snooker and Billiards for the 4th season in a row makes for a fantastic record that will be difficult to beat.

This lifetime achievement award is the highest we can bestow on a player and really Annette is so deserving of this now.  I’m sure everyone here agrees with me and the Board of RILSA in proposing Annette for this prestigious award by RILSA to her for all the years of work, dedication and commitment along with the many successes she has attained over many years with us and it may long continue into the future.
