Annette Newman from Carlow took the 4th National RILSA Billiards title the Sharkx Classic recently at the RILSA Academy in Newbridge.  Annette dominated the National Billiards Rankings winning all 4, after she took the Inaugural National Billiards Championship title in December 2015 and is set to retain the title next December.

Annette now holds both the Snooker & Billiards number 1 ranked player in Ireland and is the first woman to win the RILSA National Snooker and Billiards title in the same season here in Ireland.

On her heels is the ever improving Tina Keogh from Laois who was runner up on the day and securing the number 2 spot on the National Rankings for her efforts during the season.  Only 11 merit points separated Tine and Christine Carr from Kildare, these women have shown that with practice and dedication the results will show.  Christine is in 3rd spot followed by Lauren Carley from Carlow in 4th on the National Billiards Rankings.

Women’s Billiards is going very well here in Ireland and these women certainly have set the bar for those following in their footsteps.

Aidan Murray the RILSA National Billiards coach has done fantastic work in getting women into Billiards and helping by providing free coaching sessions during the past 14 months.  Aidan will be on hand again during the new season to help and coach any women or young girl who wishes to take up the sport.

Congratulations to Annette on her fantastic season at the Billiards and to Tina on her fine performance throughout also congrats to Christine for her great efforts too and its great to see such fantastic sporting affection between our players who play competitively and praise each others efforts after and wish their opponents well in the events.

Thanks to Bernie & Paul of Sharkx for providing fantastic facilities for all our Billiards events throughout the season and we look forward to the Championship and the new Billiards season commencing in December 2016.  Thanks to all the women who played and supported our Billiards during the season and we hope to see you all again very soon and hopefully some new faces on the women’s billiards circuit.
