Annette Newman from Carlow, won her 3rd RILSA National Billiards Ranking the Griffith Masters at the RILSA Academy@Sharkx Newbridge recently.
In this timed event Annette had a good win over Christine Carr from Kildare who is making great progress in women’s billiards, also in the mix were junior player Roisin Beale from Kildare and newcomer Stephanie Morrison from Carlow who showed great promise on the evening.
Annette’s unbeaten record in women’s billiards is a fantastic achievement and will be difficult to beat in the future, however there is great improvement in the other players and it’s only a matter of time when we see the likes of Christine, Tina, Valerie, Lauren, Roisin and Stephanie break through with wins under their belts.
Congratulations to Annette on her win and in doing so has secured her number 1 spot on the National Billiards Rankings for another season. Well done to Christine on her runner up place in the event and now moves into number 2 spot just ahead of Tina Keogh on the rankings.
Well done and thanks to Roisin and Stephanie for their participation and support and we wish them every success for the future.
RILSA will be holding an Intermediate Billiards Championship along with a few ranking events during the season, so a new title all to play for in women’s billiards.
Again a big thank you to Paul, Bernie and staff of Sharkx which is the home of women’s billiards in Ireland and we look forward to the 4th Ranking in June at Sharkx.
