The current Irish number 1 Billiards player Annette Newman from Carlow won the National Billiards Ranking 2 of the season, the Sharkx Open in Newbridge recently.

Annette played Valerie Maloney from Offaly who is the provisional Intermediate number 1 in a good display of billiards from both players in their match, Annette finished off the match well with a final score of 73-44

Irish number 2 Christine Carr from Kildare was put to the pin of her collar against the young Roisin Beale also from Kildare in their match with Roisin starting well and Christine fighting back but as the clock ran down on this timed event it was Roisin who finished well to win the match on a close margin 51-48

The next session saw Annette play well against Roisin and finished their match with the win 54-34 while Christine had to dig deep again in her match with Valerie who had chances to take it but Christine made a number of small breaks towards the final minutes of their match to finish 43-32 to win

The last session saw Valerie go ahead early against Roisin, with Roisin fighting back to go in front with minutes to go, however Valerie kept her cool and finished with some good scores to just pip Roisin 39-34

Annette had to play well against Christine who was now playing good billiards in their match, however Annette scored well in the last 10 minutes to secure the win 67-50

Congratulations to Annette once again on her win and keeping her top spot along with maintaining her unbeaten run this season.  Well done to Christine on her runner up spot and Roisin who finished 3rd only a few points ahead of Valerie.

As can be seen from the results its always a close call among these players and anything can happen on the evening.
