Annette Newman from Carlow is back to her winning ways as she took the Stars Academy Masters Billiards Ranking event 3 at Sharkx recently.  The current National Champion and number 1 came out firing on all cylinders with fine performances in the 3rd National women’s billiards event recently.

Annette won her first round robin match against the young Roisin Beale from Kildare with a comfortable 65-14 result in their timed match.

Valerie Maloney from Offaly went one better this time out by closing out her match against Christine Carr from Kildare 48-46 for a 2 point win.

Stephanie Morrison from Carlow had a close encounter with Roisin Beale to win by 5 points, 39-34 while Annette had to play well against Valerie to win through their timed event 55-44

The next set of matches saw Annette move up a gear against Stephanie to win 75-15 while Christine did the same against Roisin to win 69-28 to keep her in touch with Annette going into the final few matches.

Valerie had her second win of the evening with a 47-34 result against Roisin who was improving during the evening matches.  Christine kept on the pressure with a 54-16 win over Stephanie

The final set of matches saw Stephanie oust Valerie with minutes remaining by 36-29 while Annette had to stay in close touch with Christine to score the points needed for the win and this she did by 61-52

With 35 points separating Annette and Christine on the night, it shows that these women billiard players are all keeping within close proximity of each other as they improve their skills within this sport.

Congratulations to Annette on her win and to Christine on her fine performance while we saw great improvement from Valerie, Stephanie and Roisin, it’s only a matter of time when these too will be winning events.

Thanks to Paul & Bernie of Sharkx for providing excellent facilities and supporting women’s billiards, thanks to all the ladies who play and support our billiard events we really appreciate all your efforts.
