Dublin’s, Cathy Dunne retained her RILSA Dublin Snooker Open Title at Joey’s recently, with a strong win over Paula Judge (Dublin) in the final.  Cathy has made it back into the top 16 with her great win and is now 11th on the National RILSA Rankings.

On her way to the final,  Cathy had a good 2-0 win over Tina Keogh from Laois in the last 16 and another 2-0 win over Christine Carr (Kildare).  In the semi final against current number 1, Annette Newman, they levelled at 1-1 with the match going all the way down to a pink ball in the 3rd, Cathy took on a long difficult pink to win and take her into the final.  Congratulations to Annette for securing her number 1 spot for another season and to Sandra also for holding number 2.

Paula Judge had good 2-0 wins over Englentina Doda (Dublin), last 16 and Margaret Browne (Meath) with a 27 clearance in the second to send her into the semis against Sandra Bryan (Wexford), Paula played well against the Irish number 2 to win the match 2-0 to meet Cathy in the final.

Cathy started well to take frame 1 and was in control with a good lead in frame 2, however Paula potted her way back to take the 2nd on the black.  Cathy continued her good play with a few small breaks to move ahead and to take the 3rd frame, match and Dublin Open title once again.

Congratulations to Cathy on her great win and to Paula for her fine performance.  Paula is now number 6 on the RILSA National Rankings and well deserved due to her progress during the season.

In the Intermediate Ranking event we saw Susan Hanlon from Dublin reach the final with good wins over Englentina Doda (Quarters) and Tina Keogh (Semis), while Valerie Maloney from Offaly was in good form against Christine Carr in their Semi final match to win and meet Susan in the final.

Susan was playing very well throughout and proved the stronger on the day against Valerie to win the match.  Susan will now hold the number 4 spot on the Intermediate Rankings while Valerie is 2nd after her success on the day.  Tina is now 3rd with Christine taking number 1 for the season.

Congratulations to Susan on her win and to Valerie on her performance.  Well done to Christine on her number 1 spot and Tina for her great efforts all season to hold 3rd place.
