Christine Carr from Kildare won the first RILSA Intermediate Ranking of the new season in a very close encounter with Valerie Maloney from Offaly at Spawell Dublin recently.
In the Semi finals, Valerie had a good 2 nil win over newcomer Jennifer Earle from Dublin while in the other semi final, Christine had to fight hard to eventually win 2-1 against Tina Keogh from Laois to meet Valerie in the final.
The final saw Christine take the first frame on the colours however Valerie kept in close touch throughout frame 2 and took it on the pink ball to level the match. The 3rd and final frame saw both players play good tactical snooker and again it was close but Christine potted from blue to black to take the first Intermediate Ranking title of the season.
Congratulations to Christine on her win and to Valerie on a great performance. Thanks to all the players for their support and participation.
Christine now sits in number 2 spot on the Provisional Intermediate National Rankings with Valerie just holding number 1 with only 200 points separating them. Tina Keogh is in 3rd spot with Megan Randle holding 4th place. As the season gets underway, we will see these players fight for their top spots as others are on the up and coming in the Intermediate Rankings, so a lot of snooker yet to be played.
Thanks to Richie McAuley and staff of Spawell for all their help and support towards RILSA and women’s cue sport.
