Tuesday 12th September 2017 will go down in the history books as the Inaugural RILSA Intermediate National Billiards Championship got underway at Sharkx Newbridge.

Christine Carr from Newbridge was in great form winning all her matches with similar score lines to take this new RILSA National title.   Christine has been to the fore front of women’s billiards over the past two years and she certainly deserves this title, with the time practicing and her participation in every event since 2015.

Congratulations to Christine on her great win.

Valerie Maloney from Offaly was runner-up on the evening and after two good wins over Stephanie Morrison from Carlow and young Roisin Beale from Newbridge, she came up against the in form Christine who started very well in their match, however Valerie fought back to within 15 points before time was up on the match, this she should be very proud of indeed.  Well done to Valerie on her runner up place.

3rd place went to Roisin Beale our junior billiards player, who has shown great promise over the past few months in women’s billiards and 4th spot went to newcomer to women’s billiards Stephanie Morrison who played very well on the night and is certainly one to watch out for in the future.

Thanks to Annette Newman for refereeing and to Paul & Bernie and staff of Sharkx for their continued help and support for women’s cue sports.  Thanks to all the ladies for their participation and we hope to see them at the National Billiards Championship in November, date to follow.
