As the Republic of Ireland Ladies Snooker Association return to competition once again after almost 5 months out from competition, our recent events in both snooker and billiards are beginning to get back to pre covid strength in turnout but there is still some caution in the air, with a few players waiting for a while longer to get back to playing.
The recent National Intermediate Championship was well attended and on the day we held a plate competition.
At the semi final stage of the event we saw Christine Carr from Kildare pull out all the stops to take the frame needed against Valerie Maloney from Offaly to finish on a black ball to put her into the final.
On the other table, Joanna Ward from Kildare had to try and keep Stephanie Morrison from Carlow away from the table as the match was close all the way to the pink ball in the frame needed to win, however Stephanie overcame the fight back from Joanna to take the match and put her into her first snooker final against the experienced Christine Carr.
The final itself could have gone either way as Stephanie put pressure on Christine in the first half of the match but Christine finished strong to take the win on the day.
Congratulations to Christine on her win and to Stephanie on a fine performance. Thanks to all the players for their support. Thanks to Bernie, Paul and staff of Sharkx Newbridge for their continued support of female cue sports.
