Annette Newman the current National Snooker Champion and National Billiards Champion visited Ballinabranna National School recently.

Sandra Corrigan the Principal of Ballinabranna School in Carlow was delighted to accept the invitation of RILSA to have their National Champion in both sporting disciplines visit the school.

The girls from both 5th and 6th class were amazed at Annette’s success and were on hand to ask a questions about female cue sports in Ireland.

Also on show were the trophies that Annette won this season.  The girls were delighted to see the trophies and had their photos taken with them.

We in the Republic of Ireland Ladies Snooker Association are helping to improve the awareness of female cue sports and these visits to schools are so important for young girls to see and meet our top players where young girls can get involved and aspire to become champions in the future.

This initiative is part of our snooker4girls programme and future champions will be asked to continue this trend of visiting schools around Ireland.

Thanks to Sandra and Brenda of Ballinabranna National School Carlow for having us visit and we wish all the girls who play snooker in the school every success in the future and most of all enjoy it.

Thanks to Annette on taking the time out to visit and give back to the sport.

More visits are planned in 2020
