Darragh Fullam from Colaiste Isoagain in Portarlington won the Dermot Dalton Cup and U16 National Stars School Championship at Sharkx Newbridge recently.  Colaiste Isoagain is the first School to retain the Cup after Robbie Keogh took the title in 2016 for the School.

On his way to the final Darragh had good 2-0 wins over James Forgart (Colaiste Chluan Meala) in their Quarter final match and Sean Hawkins also of Colaiste Chluan Meala in the semis for a place in the final

In the other half of the draw we saw some great snooker from the ever improving Lee Maloney also from Colaiste Isoagain in Portarlington with 2-1 wins over Joey Roche from Colaiste Chluan Meala in the Quarters and Luke O’Callaghan from Colaiste Isoagain in the semis to meet Darragh in an all Colaiste Isoagain final.

Lee took the first frame on the black but Darragh came back to level the match at 1-1 also on a black ball win.  The 3rd and final frame was close all the way with Darragh eventually potting brown to pink for match and title of U16 Stars Academy Ireland National Schools Champion 2017.

Congratulations to Darragh on his great win and to Lee on a fine performance.  Thanks to all the players for their support and thanks to all the Schools, Teachers and parents for their support also.  Thanks to Robbie Keogh for refereeing the final and to Annette for all her help throughout the event.

Thanks to Bernie, Paul and staff of Sharkx for providing excellent facilities for the U16 School Championships.
