The Irish Ladies Pool team made up of Sandra Bryan, Louise Maher, Suzanne Randle, Danielle Randle, Kim O’Brien, Louise Thompson and Lynda Thompson played fantastic pool in Malta at the European Championships recently.

In the individual Sandra Bryan was unlucky to go out in the last 16 to Cat Jones (Eng) 5-2 however Kim O’Brien was in great form against Lorraine Fivey from England to win 5-3 and reach the Quarterfinals but unfortunate to lose out to another UK player, Katie Martyn 6-1

The Irish team played exceptional pool during the week in Malta with great wins, a 9-6 over Northern Ireland, 12-3 over Scotland B and 10-5 over Channel Islands before going down to both England teams, Eng A 11-4 and Eng B 10-5 with a close match against Scotland A only to lose out 8-7 however they came back with a great 10-5 win over France to secure them a semi final place.

With Ireland drawn against France once again in the semis the French played well to win over the Irish 8-4

Congratulations to all the girls on reaching the semi final stage of the team event and Kim O’Brien on reaching the Quarters of the individual and well done to our members, Sandra, Danielle, Suzanne and Louise Maher as we in RILSA are proud of your efforts in Malta and we wish all of the Irish Team every good wishes for the future in their pool events during the season and beyond.
