Fergal O’Brien was on hand recently at Joey’s Snooker Club Dublin to give his support towards the Republic of Ireland Ladies Snooker Association. A number of our members were in attendance to talk with Fergal and get some advice along with having a few frames of snooker with him.
Fergal was amazed with the growth and progress of our association and said “that this is just fantastic for the women’s sport” Fergal’s wife Jean was part of RILSA back in the 1990’s where she on her first attempt at the World Championships reached the last 16 in 1992 and was ranked number 1 in Ireland for a time.
Our National Secretary Tina Keogh was very impressed with Fergal and that he was very helpful and showed great interest in the ladies sport.
Our National Champion Annette Newman said ” that Fergal is a gentleman and his respect and knowledge towards the women’s sport is commendable and was very much appreciated”
Fergal O’ Brien has joined in with our promotion and will try and get to some of our schools during the season. We in RILSA wish Fergal every success on the circuit and we look forward to meeting up with him again soon.
Thanks to Martin Daly and Tony Fagan from Dublin City Council for giving of their time and support and thanks to Derek Fagan and staff of Joey’s for providing the facilities on the day.
