As part of the ongoing RILSA promotions, Irish Professional Player, Fergal O’Brien visited Kildare Town Community College to meet with the teachers and students of this 1,000 student strong College on the outskirts of Kildare Town.
Tadgh O’Connor who is our contact at the College, was delighted to have Fergal visit and that the students had the opportunity to play against Fergal and ask questions.
Fergal was only too happy to pay the visit and will visit many more of our member Schools & Colleges in the months ahead.
The very fact that Schools & Colleges along with Youth Reach Centres have tables installed by RILSA, is fantastic news for the sport, as it secures it’s future for many, many years to come. Fergal is amazed at the work carried out by RILSA and the determination of the organisation to get young people into cue sports is commendable indeed.
We at RILSA are proud and delighted to have Fergal on board with our promotions and it certainly is a very positive initiative by RILSA, which will bear fruit in the years to come as participation grows in every county in Ireland.
Kildare Town Community College has had the table just over 4 years and it’s used every day and the College has participated in the Under 16 National Schools Championship every year since. This event is dedicated to the late Dermot Dalton who would be absolutely thrilled and proud to have his name associated with the Under 16 Schools Championship as it was one of his wishes to see snooker in Schools.
