The 3rd Tour event got under way at the Ivy Rooms Snooker club in Carlow. This the Griffith Masters gave way to a great day’s competition. In the quarters Dan Carroll was again at the receiving end of a great display of potting and safety play from Anthony Clifford for him to reach the semis winning 2 nil.
Annette Newman the number 2 seed had a good 2 nil win over Robert Rogers to meet Anthony in the semis. The number 1 Gary Seales was in fine form against Paddy Fagan going through with a 2 nil win. The match between Dave Seales and Larry O’Dea was a nip and tuck affair with Larry winning through to meet Gary in the semis.
Gary had the upper hand right from the start with good potting to take him through to his second tour final thus keeping him in the number 1 spot going into tour 4 next month in Fairview. Annette had a good match against Anthony in their semi final encounter and could have gone either way with both frames going down to the black.
Anthony took both black ball games to give him a second final place in a row and giving him 3rd spot on the money list. Again the final was very close going down to the final frame and black ball which Gary had his chances but Anthony held his nerve and took it. Congratulations to Anthony on his win and to Gary on yet again another fine performance.
Thanks to all the players for their support and a special thanks to Jim, Marian and Sharon of the Ivy Rooms for providing excellent facilities on the day.
