Young Grace Byrne from Carlow took the RILSA Under 12 Championship at the Ivy Rooms recently.

Grace who only took up Snooker 6 months ago, was delighted with her first win.  Grace has took part in a number of RILSA Ranking events and is provisionally 10th, she hopes to remain within the top 16 at the end of the Ranking season which concludes end of March with the RILSA Dublin Open at Joey’s

She had good wins over Mary McDermott in the Quarters and Clodagh Walsh in the semis.  Kerri Mulleney reached the final having wins over Kate Gould in the Quarters and Michaella Walsh in the semis.

The final saw Grace move into an early lead with Kerrie trying to get back in the match, however Grace proved too strong and won the frame comfortably to take her first RILSA junior title.

Congratulations to Grace on her win and to Kerrie for a great performance, thanks to all the girls for their participation.  They all enjoyed the event and are very interested in playing more snooker and competitions during the new RILSA season, commencing with the Championship in early May 2017.

Thanks to Joe Dohney and all the students at Ballinabranna N.S. for their support along with all the teachers and Brenda at reception who is very supportive.  Thanks again to Sharon, Marion and staff of the Ivy Rooms for providing excellent facilities as usual.
