The 1st Tour event of the new season got under way at Sharkx Snooker Club, Newbridge recently. The days competition was fierce and saw some great snooker played. In the quarterfinals Dan Carroll had a good 2 frames to 1 win over the current Tour champion Steve Patten. Annette Newman also had a good win over Dave Seales to meet Dan in the semis. Ronan Deegan was in fine form and overcame Jimmy Howard 2 -1 for a semi final place. Larry O’Dea beat Paddy Fagan 2 nil to complete the semifinal line up. Annette Newman was playing some great snooker and took the match against Dan Carroll 2 nil to give her a place in the final. On the other table Ronan again was playing well and went through to the final beating Larry 2 nil.
In the final Ronan took the first frame on the black and Annette came back in frame 2 to win it on a black ball. The 3rd frame was nip and tuck for a while but Ronan put together a break of 31 to leave Annette needing a snooker on the colours. Annette tried hard to get the snooker required, but Ronan got a chance to pot the yellow to blue to secure him the win. Congrats to Ronan on his tour win and to Annette for her fine performance on the day.
Dave Seales took the plate title against Jimmy Howard. Thanks to Bernie of Sharkx for again providing excellent facilities on the day. Thanks to all the players for their support and we look forward to Tour event 2 in Joeys Snooker Club, Dublin on March the 8th next.
