Jennifer Earle from Dublin is our first ever member to receive GAISCE The Presidents Award.  The Bronze Gaisce Award was presented to Jennifer recently on behalf of the President of Ireland Michael D Higgins.  Jennifer’s involvement in a number of activities in the community along with her RILSA Scholarship achievement’s in goal setting and completing her many hours of practice in both snooker and billiards, helped her to achieve this Award.

The Republic of Ireland Ladies Snooker Association are delighted that Jennifer has received this award that included cue sports for the very first time.  Another milestone for female cue sports in Ireland set by this youngster.

Throughout the 26 week’s, Jennifer had to complete many hours of practice in both snooker and billiards.  She met her target goals during this time and is now looking forward to gaining the Silver Gaisce Award where cue sports will again be part of her overall assessment.

Congratulations to Jennifer on her achievement and for taking on snooker and billiards as part of her overall achievement in the President’s Gaisce Awards  for 2020.  We will continue to support her in her endeavours to gain the Silver in the years ahead.

Gaisce – The President’s Award is the most prestigious Award in Ireland for young people aged 15 to 25.

The Award is a self-directed personal development programme in which participants are supported and mentored by a more experienced person, a volunteer, a President’s Award Leader (PAL), to set and achieve a personal challenge over a period of time.

Gaisce is an old Irish word which means ‘a great achievement’ and it is in the spirit of this meaning that the programme challenges  young people to set and pursue personal goals in four different areas of activity:

  • Community Involvement
  • Personal Skills
  • Physical Recreation
  • Adventure Journey

There are 3 levels to the Award programme, starting with Bronze and progressing to Silver or Gold with the time and maturity required, increasing as the participant moves from Bronze towards the Gold Award. The minimum period to complete the Bronze Award is 26 weeks and for Gold this increases to 78 weeks.
