The first National Intermediate Ranking of the RILSA Tour season was won by newcomer Joanna Ward from Kildare. Joanna played snooker a number of year ago and has played pool on and off since but she really took to the sport of snooker as she played very well to win the first Intermediate event of the season.

In the semis Joanna was in good form against the experienced Christine Carr to just oust her in the final frame to make it through to the final to meet the young Jennifer Earle from Dublin also in her first Intermediate Ranking final since joining RILSA just over a year ago.
Jennifer still on a high from her International Irish Open 6 Red final a month ago in D’Arcy McGees. This has given her encouragement and confidence going forward in the sport while Joanna now feels the same and will certainly give her a step in her stride as she starts back in the sport.

Frame 1 was close for the most part for these debutants on the day and Jennifer had her chance on the brown to go ahead but left it for Joanna who potted it and then take blue and pink to go 1 up in this best of 3 final. The second frame was nip and tuck again all the way to the pink where Joanna potted to take her first ever Intermediate Ranking title.

Joanna now moves into 7th spot with Jennifer just ahead in 6th place, thus giving them a great opportunity to qualify to the National Intermediate Championship in 2020 where only those in the top 16 qualify.

Congratulations to Joanna on her win and to Jennifer for a great performance. Thanks to all the girls for their participation and support. Thanks to Jim Carrick and staff of the CYMS for all their help and support towards our events.
