Laura Alves took her first ever National Ranking title at Joey’s Snooker Club, Dublin recently The RILSA Griffith Cup.  Laura overcame the Irish number 1 Annette Newman in a close encounter winning 2-1.  Annette started well taking the first frame with Laura needing 3 snookers on the colours.  Laura came back in the second frame to win on the pink ball, with the match levelled at 1-1 the 3rd and final frame was a tense affair again going down to the pink ball to see who would take the title and Laura potted a good long pink to secure her, her first ever ranking title.

Congratulations to Laura on her win and to Annette on a fine performance.  Annette the current Irish number 1 now takes the provisional number 1 spot for the new season while Laura’s win takes her into number 2 provisionally.

Christine Carr goes into number 3 place on the provisional rankings while Sandra Bryan now steps down to provisional 4th place closely followed by Tina Keogh in 5th after the days competition.

Margaret Browne also had a good result reaching the semis and this brings her up from 32nd to 9th on the rankings.

In the Intermediate final Tina Keogh won 2-1 against Christine Carr to move her back into contention at 2nd on the Intermediate National Rankings while Christine now is the current Intermediate Number 1 on the new seasons provisional rankings.
