The last RILSA Ranking event of the season the Kildare Open was won by Louise Jordan from Meath at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge recently.
Louise’s win puts her number 3 in Ireland after a great season with RILSA. In her quarter final match, Louise played up and coming young player, Jennifer Earle from Dublin and though Louise came out the winner 2 nil, we saw the improvement in Jennifer as she brought Louise to a Pink ball frame in their match, so one to watch for the future.
Annette Newman from Carlow saw off a good fight from Valerie Maloney from Offaly with a 2 nil win in their quarter final match to meet Louise in the semis. Cathy Dunne from Dublin had to fight for her 2-1 win over Christine Carr from Kildare in the semis as Christine was in good form, however the experienced Cathy made the final which she won last year.
Annette started well against Louise going ahead however Louise came back to take the first on a pink ball and again the same in frame two as both players found it difficult to hit form. However Louise took the match 2 nil to meet Cathy in the final.
The final itself was nip and tuck for the most part with Louise taking the first on a black ball with Cathy responding in frame two to level the match 1-1 in this best of 5. Louise did well to take frame two and to go ahead again. Frame 4 started well for Cathy but Louise potted some great balls from distance to overtake her going down to the colours. Cathy had a few chances to get back into the frame but it was not to be as Louise sealed the frame potting brown to pink for frame and match.
Congratulations to Louise on her win and taking number 3 spot on the rankings. Well done to Cathy on her performance and taking 4th place on the rankings while Christine after a great season deserved number 2 for the first time showing her improvement along with Valerie making it to 5th spot, her highest ever ranking since starting playing back in 2014 while Annette makes history holding number 1 for the 4th season in a row. More to follow on the rankings later.
