The Republic of Ireland Ladies Snooker Association presented the four girls who represented Ireland and RILSA at the World Welsh Billiards Open in Cwmbran, Wales with a special pin to mark the occasion.
Annette Newman (Carlow) Valerie Maloney (Offaly) Tina Keogh (Offaly) and Christine Carr (Kildare) were delighted to receive the pin. Along with the pin they were given their Certs framed which they received in Cwmbran for their participation.
These four women will go down in the history books as the first ever female billiard players to represent their Association and Country on the World Stage.
We hope to see more females get involved with the sport of billiards in the future. We know that there are a number of females playing billiards in the UK, Australia and India. While Brazil was represented for the first time with Laura Alves when she participated at the Ladies International Irish Open just a few weeks ago also making history for her Country.
We are working away in the background to encourage and develop female billiards here in Ireland and indeed around the Globe.
Congratulations to Annette, Valerie, Tina and Christine for their participation and receiving the pin as its well deserved for all their support over the past 4 years as we develop female billiards in Ireland.
