Rachel Doran and Amanda Walsh from Ballinabranna in Carlow were given free coaching recently by World Professional Snooker Coach Dan Carroll.  The newly crowned National Ladies Snooker Champion, Annette Newman was on hand to give advice and demonstrate shots to these young girls who are only starting out on their snooker careers.

The evening was very constructive and most enjoyable as  these young ladies were put through their paces with practice routines and a short talk on the psychology of the game, followed by a few frames.  They enjoyed the coaching and we will hold more coaching sessions on the run up to the Irish Ladies Snooker Open in July.

It is very encouraging to see the interest rise among the women and girls who have been introduced to snooker through the Republic of Ireland Ladies Snooker Association and Stars Academy Ireland’s school & college initiative along with the new programme Snooker4girls that will be launched officially in September, all of this is part of our new structure and 10 year plan for women and girls.
