After a long day’s play at Joey’s Dublin with the knockout stages played through to the finals, we saw 10 year old Grace Byrne from Ballinbranna in Carlow reach her first ever International Final having won her quarter final and semi final matches against Valerie Maloney and Emirjeta Doda respectively.

While Laura Alves from Brazil had a close encounter with Lauren Carley to win through by 2 frames to 1 in the quarters and a good 2 nil win over Aine Brennan in the semis to reach her second Intermediate International final in 3 years.

Both Grace and Laura are looking forward to their final

In the main event Susan Hanlon was in fine form against Sandra Bryan to win by 3-1 and was 2 nil up on Annette Newman in the semis but Annette fought back well to level the match 2-2, Annette continued her progress winning the 5th on the pink to put her through to her first ever International final.

Cathy Dunne had a good 3-1 win over the ever improving Michelle O’Boyle in their quarter final match.  On the other table Paula Judge also had a good 3-1 win over Louise Maher from Kilkenny to meet Cathy in the semis.  Cathy took the first frame and was looking good to take the second, however Paula kept potting well and came through 3-1 winner to meet Paula in the final

The finals day at the RILSA International Irish Open 2017 is looking to be yet another great success for the Association and we wish all the finalists the very best of luck
