Day one at the RILSA Ladies Irish International Open in Joey’s Dublin, was a long day of round robin matches, with 4 groups of 5 players in the main event.  A further 10 players will contest the International 6 Red today on day two of the three day festival of events.

Group A saw Sandra Bryan (Irl) top the group without dropping a frame, Christine Carr (Irl) took 2nd place to send her and Sandra into the main event knockout stage on day two.  Valerie Maloney (Irl) & Rosie Young (Irl) were 3rd & 4th respectively and qualify to the Intermediate event while Englentina representing Albania was in 5th place

Group B was close between Cathy Dunne, Louise Maher and Tina Keogh as the matches progressed, however both Cathy & Louise levelled on points and it went down to a 1 frame decider to see who would take top spot in the group.  Cathy was the victor on the day and went into number 1.  Both Cathy & Louise now make it to the main event while Tina and Margaret Browne hold firm in 3rd & 4th respectively for the Intermediate event.

Paula Judge topped group C after her round robin matches only dropping 1 frame to Michelle O’Boyle who now make it through to the knockout stage of the main event. While Laura Alves from Brazil and Aine Brennan (Irl) qualify to the Intermediate event.

Annette Newman (Irl) had a good day also, topping the group without dropping a frame.  However Susan Hanlon (Irl) & Emirjeta Doda representing Albania levelled on points had to play off for place in which Susan won to put her through to the main event with Annette.  Emirjeta and Grace Byrne completed the Intermediate line up for day two the knockout stages.  Joyce Forde finished in 5th spot to qualify for the 6 Red.
