In 2014 the Republic of Ireland Ladies Snooker Association introduced the Griffith Pin Award to players who participated in RILSA events.
During the years 2014 – 2016 any player who participated in 15 or more events received the Griffith Pin and from the beginning of 2017 to 2019 those who participated in 20 or more events would receive the Griffith Pin Award. The increase in events was in line with the number of events now established on the RILSA Calendar of events.
From January 2020, due to a further increase of events in the coming season, we have had to increase the participation qualification to 25 or more events in order to receive this award.
To date 16 players have received this award, with a number of players awaiting to qualify as they are close to this figure.
The Republic of Ireland Ladies Snooker Association are delighted to announce a new event in 2020 that will see those players listed below who now qualify, with further updates should any other player reach their target prior to the event being held. A date will be published on our Calendar of events in due course.
The Griffith Pot Black Championship will be free to those who qualify and will be of 1 frame on the day with the draw to take place on the morning of the event. The draw will be an open draw on the day.
Players who qualify will have to ensure they have their Griffith Pin on their waistcoat in order to participate in this event.
The winner will receive prize money and free entry to all RILSA Events during the following season. This new initiative will help to encourage participation by more female players and we hope to see a rise in participation in the seasons ahead.
