With the last RILSA National Ranking event of the season finishing at the end of March 2018, it was a scramble for a number of players to keep within the top 16 while many were trying to improve their seasons ranking.

Annette Newman from Carlow was sitting pretty going into the last event having already secured the number 1 spot for the 3rd season in a row, yet another RILSA record.  Annette proved her worth by reaching the final once again in the Kildare Open to finish on a solid position with points, a fantastic achievement for Annette.

Cathy Dunne from Dublin had a great season finishing number 2 after winning two ranking events and was runner up in two other, this was a great achievement for Cathy as she now sits poised to try and go one further in the new season to take number 1 spot.

Sandra Bryan from Wexford was another of our ladies who had a great season with RILSA and after her number 1 place in 2015 she kept close to Annette for 2016 & 2017 in number 2 spot, however Sandra missed a few events during the season due to clashing with her Pool commitments where she is doing very well, she still managed to stay within the top 4 at number 3, great achievement for her.

Paula Judge from Dublin had a great season also with RILSA having won the 2017 National Championship put her into a great position to really improve her ranking with 3 further wins during the season, Paula finished in 4th place.  Paula will be the one to watch for the new season as she will be out to improve her ranking but like always it’s not that easy with the formidable opponents she will have to contend with as the standards improve with those at the top but also those who are making their mark on the RILSA Tour.

Christine Carr from Kildare finished 5th after yet another great season with RILSA, Christine made it to almost every quarterfinal in all RILSA Ranking events this season which gave her the points and she is certainly capable of more but 5th spot is a great achievement for her.

11 year old Grace Byrne from Carlow has hit the scene this season with a number of great results that has secured her a number 6 place after finishing 12th last season we will certainly see a great deal more from Grace during the new season.

Tina Keogh from Laois secured 7th spot at the end of the season which is fantastic for Tina as she has been in the top 8 now for the past 4 seasons, yet another great achievement for her.  Tina is improving all the time and is one of our dedicated players who is always trying her best and as you can see, she is holding her own on the RILSA Tour.

Margaret Browne from Meath had to do well in the last two events of the season as she was slipping down the rankings with the possibility of going out of the top 16 after many years within the top 16 and indeed the top 8, however after reaching the Quarters of the Leinster Masters in February and poised in number 12 spot she came out to the Kildare Open to go one better and made it to the semis which secured her number 8 spot a great finish to the season for Margaret to complete the top 8 line up in RILSA.

The next 8 players from 9 to 16 had to play really well during the season to keep within the top 16 while 5 players had to collect points from the last two events to secure a top 16 spot

Katie French from Kildare finished in 9th spot, Emirjeta Doda from Dublin in 10th, 11 year old Clodagh Walsh from Carlow finished 11th these players had to do well during the season to stay within the top 16, well done to them.  Newcomer Rosie Young from Laois was outside the top 16 along with Susan Hanlon from Dublin, Michelle O’Boyle from Kildare, Rachel Bradley from Kildare and Valerie Maloney from Offaly

Their entry into the last two events of the season along with reaching the quarter finals and last 16 of these events helped them over the line to complete the RILSA Top 16 for the season which comes with many benefits as these players now qualify for the Maureen Butler Cup, the last 32 stage of the National Championship and the Ladies International Irish Open 2018.

Congratulations to all our top 16 players and indeed to every other player who supported RILSA events during the season we thank you one and all.

115 women & girls participated in RILSA events during the season, this is amazing for women’s cue sports here in Ireland and we start the 2018-2019 RILSA Tour season with 139 players on the National Ranking List.

A total of 303 women & girls have participated in RILSA events since September 2014, it’s a fantastic achievement for any organisation and especially ours which is the busiest and largest women’s cue sports organisation in the World and we are all very proud of our success.
