Sandra Bryan from Wexford has been playing snooker over 10 years now. Her first love is Pool and Sandra has won the National Women’s Pool Title on 5 occasions along with representing Ireland both at European and World level at Pool on many occasions.
Sandra plays out of Breakers Snooker & Pool centre in Gorey where she practices on a regular basis and Breakers is home to a number of pool events each year. Sandra supports and helps promoting the sport as she is on the committee of RILSA over the past 4 years.
Her success in snooker, since joining RILSA 4 years ago, started with the 2014 National Championship title to add to her 5 National Pool titles. Along with the title Sandra dominated the 2014/2015 Tour season with wins in the Ladies Griffith Cup and Stars Academy Masters, both National Rankings.
Towards the end of 2015, Sandra won another two ranking titles in the Ladies Leinster Masters and Dublin Open events, securing her the number 1 ranked player in Ireland for 2015. A fantastic achievement for Sandra in her first full season with RILSA.
She started well in 2016 with a place in the National Championship Final for the second time only to go out 3-2 to Annette Newman from Carlow in a very close final.
Sandra won the National 6 Red Championship Title in 2015 against Annette in another close encounter, Sandra went on to retain the title in 2016 in another closely fought match against Annette once more, would it happen again in 2017, “YES” the same result saw Sandra take the title 3 in a row, another great success for Sandra.
The 2015/2016 Season saw Sandra start well, winning the Ladies Griffith Cup and with 5 semi-final places and 2 quarter final places over the last two seasons, Sandra has held number 2 in Ireland, another great achievement for her in the sport.
Sandra represented Ireland at the WLBS World Championships in Leeds in 2015 and did very well in reaching the semis of the senior event. She also represented RILSA at Ladies Day in Sheffield at the World Championships 2016.
Her Quarter Final place in the RILSA International Irish Open at Joey’s Dublin, put her amongst the top amateur women players in the World and went one better in 2016 reaching the semis of the event. Again in 2017 at the Irish Open, Sandra topped her group without dropping a frame and went onto yet another Quarter final place. Consistency is one of her great traits and along with the grittiness of her play, is a player who is hard to beat.
Sandra was awarded the most consistent player of the year award by RILSA in 2015, a very deserving award for her.
Gorey Municipal District awarded Sandra for her outstanding achievements in both Pool and Snooker at National and International levels over the past 22 years.
We in RILSA are delighted for her and that she is one of our own in the sport and we all wish her well for the future.
