THE MAUREEN BUTLER CUP

The Inaugural Maureen Butler Cup was held in 1969, Brid Maxwell took the title on that occasion. Brid would return in 1970 to retain the title and the first player to win the title and retain it.  Audrey Mooney would win it in 1971 but Brid Maxwell made it 3 times winner of the title in 1972 and is currently the only player to keep this record to date.

The Maureen Butler Cup would be won by the late Maureen Butler herself on two occasions 1974 & 1976.  This would be the last Maureen Butler Cup until 2000 when it was revived and Ann McMahon took the title then but it was to go out of competition again until it was once again revived by RILSA in 2016 with Cathy Dunne from Dublin taking the title that year against Laura Alves.  In 2017 Paula Judge from Dublin would take the title against Annette Newman from Carlow.  Paula would be the 3rd player in its history to win the title on two occasions with a win over Cathy Dunne in the 2018 final.  Annette Newman from Carlow would take the title in 2019 against Louise Jordan from Meath
