The Republic of Ireland Ladies Snooker Association have seen an increase in participation every year since initiating their promotions in the Special Needs area.

St Marks Special School in Newbridge and St Laserians Special School in Carlow have been to the fore front of female cue sports over the past 6 years since receiving full size tables from RILSA.

Aidan Murray has been busy at St Marks giving of his time once weekly to help the students improve their skills and with 4 National titles out of 5 for St Marks, shows that improvement.  St Laserians are always close to St Marks with players reaching the finals of the events and just pipped at the post, so results could have gone either way on a number of occasions.

Christine Carr took the inaugural title against Rachel Bradley in 2014 with Rachel coming back in 2015 to take the title, 2016 saw Neicy Kavanagh from St Laserians take the title back to Carlow.  2017 was Rechel Bradley turn to bring back the title to Kildare and again this year retained the title in Newbridge.

Rachel is topping the Special Needs Rankings after all her success in her events.

79 players now make up the National Ranking list after the National Championship a few weeks ago which is at an all time high for our promotions in this area.

We hope that this will continue into the future and we will see many more like Christine and Rachel take to the RILSA National Tour in the future.

The help and support from the Board of RILSA and in particular Annette Newman is very much appreciated along with the Principals and every teacher involved at all our member Schools.

St Marks and St Lasreians will officially become RILSA National Academies in 2019 as we make progress in promoting female cue sports here in Ireland.

A full list of official RILSA Academies will be published in 2019.  Any club, school or centre that promotes female cue sports on a weekly basis will have the opportunity to become a National Academy at RILSA.
