Portarlington Snooker Club was the venue for the newest RILSA members who attended a free coaching session, given by World Snooker Coach Dan Carroll and also in attendance was the current National Ladies Champion, Annette Newman.
We welcome these three new members to our association and we all wish them well for the future and that they enjoy the sport of snooker.
Our National Secretary, Tina Keogh and committee member Valerie Maloney are already members of the Portarlington club and Tina has been working very hard to encourage more ladies into the sport and we are very great full to both Tina and Valerie for their support and hard work for ladies snooker.
Tina’s twin daughters Leigh-Anne and Karen joined the club and RILSA along with friend Kellyann Hyland and there are more women and girls interested in taking up the sport, all due to the encouragement of Tina and Valerie.
Dan gave an introduction to the sport and technique, with emphasis on the Bridge Hand, Grip, Stance and alignment. Some of the basic rules of the game was given and with the help of Annette the whole evening was very successful indeed.
Everyone enjoyed the coaching and the ladies really are looking forward to practice every week and going to the tournaments.
Thanks to the Portarlington Club committee, Tina and Valerie for their support, thanks to Annette for her help and support and we thank Leigh-Anne, Karen and Kellyann for taking part and joining the association and we look forward to seeing them on the RILSA circuit very soon.
