The Republic of Ireland Ladies Snooker Association are continuing their junior development programme to encourage young players into the sports of snooker and billiards.
Roisin Beale from Newbridge will join Rachel Bradley also from Newbridge and Jennifer Earle from Dublin in a year-long scholarship at the RILSA Academy in Sharkx Newbridge, where she will receive free coaching from World Snooker Coach Dan Carroll along with free practice time every week.
Paul Traynor of Sharkx has been very supportive towards RILSA over the past 6 years and this scholarship will certainly help improve standards and develop technique along with the various skills required to advance in the sport.
Roisin has shown promise since joining RILSA a few years ago and is doing very well in our billiards section where she recently won silver at the inaugural intermediate billiards ranking.
Roisin’s first season with RILSA saw her reach 36th spot on the main tour while reaching 19th spot on the Intermediate tour. Her main tour ranking last season saw Roisin reach 17th place while making it to 9th spot on the Intermediate rankings. So far this season Roisin is provisionally ranked 9th place on both rankings as we go to print on this report.
If she continues along this path, she is certainly capable of making the top 16 on the main tour by seasons end and a top 8 on the Intermediate tour. So keep an eye out for this young player during the season ahead.
