As per guidelines and protocol surrounding Covid-19, the RILSA National Snooker Masters Championship took place at the New RILSA Academy, Sharkx Newbridge in a very safe environment.
Up for grabs was the Noel Murphy Shield and title of RILSA National Masters Snooker Champion 2020. We remember the late Noel Murphy with great affection. Noel was a fantastic supporter of ladies cue sports and refereed at almost every tournament throughout the 1980,s and 1990,s. The Shield is a tribute to his help and support. Thank you Noel
Sandra Bryan retained her title and in doing so made it 3 in a row, a fantastic achievement for her.
In the prelim round Tina Keogh had a good 2 nil win over Valerie Maloney to make it into the semis against Annette Newman and Cathy Dunne compiled a good 35 break to see off Stephanie Foley 2 frames to nil to meet Sandra Bryan and complete the semi final line up
Annette was in good form against Tina and won the match 2 nil to reach her 3rd Masters final in a row while Sandra played well against Cathy to win 2 nil to once again meet Annette in the final.
As the final commenced we knew that it was going to be a close encounter as both players know each others game. Sandra took frame 1 and Annette responded well in the second to level the match 1-1, the 3rd and final frame was close going down to the colours with Annette needing a snooker on the blue to stay in the match however she potted the blue after trying for the snooker and congratulated Sandra on her win.
Congratulations to Sandra on her win and retaining her title and well done to Annette on her fine performance throughout. Thanks to all the girls for their support. Thanks to Bernie, Paul and staff for their help and support as always.
