The 2019 National Ladies Masters Championship took place at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge recently.

Sandra Bryan from Wexford retained her title in another closely contested final against Annette Newman from Carlow.

Up for grabs was the Noel Murphy Shield which is dedicated to Noel who was very much involved in helping and supporting RILSA and female snooker for many years.

This National event introduced by RILSA in 2017 for players over the age of 40 is back again on the Calendar after it was not contested in 2018 due to our busy calendar of events.  We are committed to keeping this event going in the future and we will see more players making the grade to qualify in 2020.

In the semis Sandra Bryan from Wexford had to dig deep to oust Tina Keogh from Offaly who levelled the match at 1-1 and the 3rd frame going down to the colours which Sandra picked off to take the frame and a place in the final.  The second semi final was an all Carlow affair with Annette Newman up against Stephanie Morrison.  Annette was to prove the stronger on the evening taking both frames needed in this best of 3 match to meet Sandra in the final.

We knew this would be close as has been the case on many previous occasions between these two players.  So difficult to predict and with Sandra taking frame 1 on the colours, Annette potted Blue to Black to level the match 1-1 in the second.  The 3rd frame was close again all the way to the blue which Sandra potted to leave Annette needing a snooker to win with the remaining colours but it was not to be for the Carlow woman as Sandra potted both blue and pink to take the win and retain her Masters title.

It was great to see Sandra back on the scene after almost a year out and we hope to see her back in the new year playing on the RILSA tour.

Congratulations to Sandra on her win and to Annette on a great performance.  Thanks to all the players for their support.  Thanks to Bernie and Paul for all their help and support also.

On the evening we had a small fundraiser for RILSA where many spot prizes were up for grabs and we wish to thank everyone who bought tickets for the raffle and thanks to Annette, Tina and Val for providing the prizes on the night also thanks to Jo and staff of Celbridge Snooker Club for vouchers and a special thanks to Bernie and Paul of Sharkx for providing finger food and vouchers towards our fundraiser, much appreciated by everyone at RILSA
