The RILSA National Amateur Snooker Championship took place in the new RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge and as previous reports, we ensured a very safe environment for our players during the event.

Sandra Bryan took the title and her second since 2014.

At the quarter final stage of the Championship we saw Christine Carr make it through to her second National main tour semi final this season with a good 2 nil win over the ever improving Jennifer Earle, to meet Louise Jordan.

At the other end of the draw we saw Stephanie Foley take the first frame on a re spotted black against Annette Newman but Annette responded well in frame two to level the match and went on to take frame 3 to put her into the semis while on the other table Sandra Bryan took frame 1 comfortably against Joanna Ward but frame 2 went all the way to a black ball which Sandra potted to take her into a semi final match against Annette.

Louise had to dig deep against Christine to eventually take the 2 nil win to reach her 3rd final in a row on the tour. Sandra took frame 1 against Annette and as always, Annette came back well in the second to level the match.  The 3rd frame went all the way to yet another black ball in which Sandra potted to take her into the final with Louise.

The final itself was somewhat scrappy to start with but soon both players started to get into their stride, frame 1 went to Sandra and frame 2 was nip and tuck down to the colours with Louise having chances to level, however it was not to be and Sandra finished strong on the colours to take the frame and match and Championship Title once again.

As we are halfway through the 2020-2021 season, we see Louise Jordan in number 1 spot provisionally with Annette Newman in 2nd place followed by Christine Carr in 3rd and Sandra Bryan back into the top 4 once again after a few seasons out of competition.  A full report on the rankings will follow soon

Congratulations to Sandra on a great win and to Louise on a fine performance.  Well done to Annette and Christine on their performances on the day and to all the girls for their participation and support.  As always thanks to Bernie, Paul and staff of Sharkx for all they do for our organisation.
