Sportslink Snooker Club have won their 2nd Dublin Snooker Federation League Cup recently after a great display of Snooker at the Sportslink Centre Dublin.
The Griffith Club who were looking to take the Cup title two years in a row, were certainly the team to beat as they saw off the League Champions, Clontarf with a 5-2 win in the semis.
Sportslink team of Kevin Lyons and Oisin Mac Fhearai were in good form going into the final against the Griffith team of Dave Seales and Darragh Hackett.
Sportslink had a 2 frame lead going into the final with the Griffith Club having a 1 frame start in this run to 5 final. Dave was drawn against Kevin while Oisin was drawn against Darragh. As the players started their matches of 3 frames, we saw Dave win the first two and Oisin winning his first frame making it level at 3-3 however Darragh took the next frame to go into the lead for Griffith but Oisin replied well in the next frame to level the match once again at 4-4.
It was all down to Dave and Kevin’s frame to see who would take the title. Kevin went into and early lead but Dave responded well to get back into the frame, however Kevin held strong to pot brown, blue and pink to seal the frame and take the title for Sportslink.
Congratulations to Sportslink on winning the Cup title and well done to the Griffith Club on a fine performance throughout. Thanks to all the teams for their participation and a big thank you to Joe Lyons and members of Sportslink for facilitating all the matches for the Cup along with the second half of the League.
We look forward to seeing all our teams back on the green baize again in September for yet another great season of league snooker.
