St Marks Special School, Newbridge joined Stars Academy Ireland recently by having a full size table installed. The table was donated by Gerry Morgan from Dublin and was received with much thanks from Stars Academy Ireland and St Marks Special School who are celebrating 40 years this year.
This is the first Special School to receive a snooker table and we look forward to 2014 when we will be introducing for the first time a Stars Academy Ireland Special Needs National Snooker Championships. Aileen O’Brien one of the teachers is delighted to help and promote the sport in the School and all the students are very eager to get started playing snooker. Dan Carroll was on hand to give some advice and demonstrated some techniques to a group of students recently and their enthusiasm was brilliant and it was a pleasure working with them. Peter the principle is extremely positive and supportive of the sport and thanked Stars Academy Ireland and Gerry Morgan for donating and organising the installation of the table in the School. We all wish them well and many years of enjoyable snooker in the School and congratulate them in their 40th anniversary celebrations.
