Stars Academy Ireland have set their Under 12’s event as the new RILSA Girls Under 12’s National Championship that will be held soon.
This initiative is welcomed by RILSA as girls snooker increases within the school initiative implemented by RILSA some 4 years ago. The remaining events in the U13,U14,U15,U16,U17 & Stars All Ireland will remain open to everyone.
We must set out a future plan for young girls within the sport and encourage them to participate in junior events that will give them more opportunities to play tournaments and improve standards among young girls as we move along with our plan’s for the future.
This is the 3rd in events for our younger members as they already have the National U21’s and National Primary Schools Championships.
The Republic of Ireland Ladies Snooker Association is looking at introducing more events for girls as the numbers increase each year. A National Junior Billiards Championship is on the cards for 2018 as young girls take up the sport.
RILSA thanks Stars Academy Ireland for all the help and support over the past 4 years as both organisations are very much in support of one another.
122 young girls have so far participated in RILSA Junior events since the initiative was introduced in 2014, an unprecedented number of young girls that we are delighted to have on board and it shows that with a bit of work and effort from volunteers within our organisation that anything can be done once you put your mind to it.
