The Griffith Masters was the 3rd Tour event of the season that got underway at Sharkx Newbridge recently and the days competition was again a very tense and competitive occasion. In the top half of the draw at the quarter final stage, Dan Carroll overcame the number 1 seed Ronan Deegan 2 frames to 1 in a close match. Paddy Fagan was in good form against Gary Seales and took his match 2-1 to meet Dan in the semis. Stephen McAdam beat Annette Newman 2 nil in their quarter final match and Steve Patten the number 2 seed overcame Dave Seales 2-1 in another close encounter to complete the semi final line up. Dan started well taking the first frame with a 31 break but Paddy came back to level at 1-1 the third frame was nip and tuck for the most part but out of no where Paddy started to pot and score heavily to take the frame and give him his first final place of the season. In the other semi final between Stephen McAdam and Steve Patten the match leveled 1-1 after some great play from both players. Stephen McAdam however held his composure in the final frame to win and take him into the final. The final saw some great snooker being played between both players however Stephen had the upper hand and won the match 2 nil and give him the number 1 spot going into the next event in May. Congratulations to Stephen on his win and to Paddy on his fine performance on the day. Thanks to all who took part and thanks to Bernie and staff of Sharkx for again providing excellent facilities.
