The 5th tour event took place in Joeys Snooker Club recently and the days snooker was a very tense affair with the points very close between the top 6 players all in contention for the big prize fund. Ronan Deegan was in fine form in his quarterfinal match against the number 2 player Steve Patten with breaks of 38 and 45 to send him into the semis. Dave Seales had a close match against Dan Carroll and came out the winner 2 nil to meet Ronan in the semis. In the bottom half of the draw Larry O’Dea had a good 2 nil defeat of Declan Tuohy and Annette Newman also had a good win over Gary Seales to reach the semis. Ronan kept up the good run and took his match 2 nil while on the other table Larry won both frames against Annette on black balls to reach his first final of the season.

In the final Larry was first to strike taking the first frame, however Ronan replied with a good break of 40 to level the match and it was the same in frame 3 with breaks of 27 and 30 secured him the win and gave him the number 1 spot on the rankings going into the 6th tour event in July. Still there is all to play for as the points are very close among the top 5 now so we look forward to the next instalment of matches to see how all fairs out. Thanks to all for taking part and to Derek Fagan and staff for their hospitality and providing excellent playing conditions.
