The second Intermediate Ladies National Billiards Ranking event got underway at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge recently with Tina Keogh taking the title playing her best billiards to date. This is Tina’s first win in National Billiards events and having been runner up on a few occasions in the past, she showed much improvement and will be a strong contender for the National Intermediate Billiards Championship later in 2019.
Current number 1 on the Intermediate rankings Valerie Maloney (Offaly) got off to a great start against Roisin Beale (Kildare) with a good win 48-13 in their timed match. Tina Keogh (Laois) started well against Stephanie Morrison (Carlow) taking their match 47-20
The second session saw Stephanie fight hard to win her match against Roisin 41-27 while Tina continued her good form against Valerie to win 47-36
The final session of the evening saw Tina make her highest score in a timed match to date to win over Roisin on 57-41 while Valerie stepped up her game with a good win over Stephanie 51-39
Congratulations to Tina on her win and to Valerie on a great performance throughout the event. Well done to Stephanie and Roisin for their participation. We will see a few newcomers to Intermediate Ladies Billiards in the near future as more females show interest in the sport.
Valerie still holds the number 1 spot while Tina moves into 2nd place with only 200 points separating them while Roisin takes number 3 with Stephanie just behind again with only 200 points between them, so with two more rankings during the season along with the Championship ahead, there is still time to challenge the two top players as there is very little in it so far.
