Valerie Maloney from Laois secured her 3rd season in a row as Irish Intermediate Billiards Number 1 player. Valerie has been very consistent over the past 3 seasons in female Intermediate Billiards here in Ireland, having won the National Intermediate Championship Billiards title in 2019 and retained it in 2020, is an amazing achievement for the Laois woman.
Her success to date has seen Valerie win 4 Intermediate National Ranking events and on the Amateur Tour she has been runner up in the 2016 National Championship and runner up in 4 ranking events over the past 5 seasons.
Congratulations to Valerie on her great success in female billiards and well deserved as she continues to dominate the Intermediate tour.
Other players close on her heels are Joanna Ward from Kildare who has made a big impact on Intermediate Billiards in her first season having won 3 ranking events and was runner up to Valerie this season in the National Intermediate Championship, so certainly one to watch out for in 2021. Stephanie Foley from Carlow, Jennifer Earle from Dublin and Roisin Beale from Kildare are all very capable of making great progress in 2021 and if Tina Keogh from Offaly returns to female billiards, she will certainly throw the cat among the pigeons on the tour as she is a tough player also.
Thanks to all our girls for their support and participation in 2020, as we know it was difficult at times to get the tour complete due to the ongoing situation with covid-19 however we prevailed and managed to safely run our events. We are looking forward to 2021.
Thanks to Aidan Murray for all his help and support towards female billiards throughout the season and Bernie, Paul and staff of Sharkx Newbridge for their continued support and providing fantastic facilities to us.
