The 2018-2019 RILSA Intermediate Season ended in late March 2019 having run another very successful season with 90 women & girls taking part.
The success of our Intermediate tour is all down to the hard work and determination of the RILSA Board and Committee along with the support of so many great people within our schools/colleges and youth reach centres around the Country.
The top 16 players have really improved their standard throughout the season along with the many others who supported women’s cue sports here in Ireland. While many girls continue to participate in our schools, we are seeing an increase each year in the numbers coming out to play in the Intermediate Tour.
Valerie Maloney from Offaly regains her number 1 spot after 4 years. Valerie makes history on the Intermediate scene here in Ireland as she now holds number 1 spot in both snooker and billiards in the one season which is a fantastic achievement. Valerie’s commitment to female cue sports shows the results of her time at RILSA. We are delighted for Valerie and her achievement along with her involvement on the Board of RILSA.
Christine Carr from Kildare who was number 1 over the past two years moves to number 2 spot, yet another credible achievement for her. Tina Keogh from Laois also holds onto her number 3 spot for the third season, having had a great season, again showing great commitment to the sport and like Valerie, Tina is a great asset to our Association, working hard as National Secretary. Number 4, see’s Rachel Bradley (Kildare) stay within the top 4 for the second year, well done Rachel. Jennifer Earle (Dublin) is in at 5 which is a great result for her first season with RILSA. Also making a great impact on their second season with RILSA is the Randle family all making it into the top 8 and in doing so making history in the sport, Megan Randle (Kilkenny) 6th, Carrie Randle (Kilkenny) 7th and Suzanne Randle (Kilkenny) 8th place, well done to them.
Susan Hanlon (Dublin) moves out of the top 8 only down to 9th while Emirjeta Doda (Dublin) is down 5 places from 5th to 10th and Roisin Beale (Kildare) is down only two spots from 9th to 11th. Rosie Young (Laois) moves down 1 spot to 12th while Katie French (Kildare) is down to 13th place from 8th last season.
Going out of the top 16 this season are Lauren Carley, Clodagh Walsh, Grace Byrne, Tara Byrne, Aine Brennan, Shannon Wilson, and Grace Brennan. We thank these players for their participation and hope to see them back again in the new season.
Other players making it Into the top 16 this season are Katelyn O’Reilly, Lucinda Monaghan and Edel Hannon, congratulations girls.
A big thank you to all those players who supported our Intermediate events during the season and congratulations to those who made it to the top 16 and those who remained within the top 16. Many other players made personal goals by reaching the top 32 during the season and its these players who will be out to improve their positions during the new season as we introduce new initiatives within our National Ranking Structures moving forward.
Congratulations to all our players and supporters during the past season and we look forward to seeing you all again soon.
