Valerie Maloney from Offaly got her Intermediate Billiards season off to a great start at the RILSA Academy, Sharkx Newbridge winning the Intermediate Billiards Ranking 1.

In this round robin timed event, we saw our junior player, Roisin Beale from Kildare play some great billiards in her match against the Intermediate number 1 Valerie Maloney with a 10 point win as the clock wound down on their match finishing 46-36.

Stephanie Morrison from Carlow was in form against Tina Keogh from Laois taking their match on 34 to 24 score.  The second round matches saw Roisin again finish strong against Stephanie, winning 34 to 26 while Valerie stepped up a gear against Tina in their match to win 54-33.

In the final set of matches we saw Roisin again play very well against Tina to finish with a 39 to 29 win.  Stephanie played well against Valerie to finish with the win of 45-35.

Even though Roisin won all her matches it was the overall points calculated in the round robin matches and with just only 6 points separating Roisin and Valerie in the end made for a very close contest.

Congratulations to Valerie on her win and well done to Roisin on a great performance throughout.  Thanks to all the players for their support and they really enjoyed the event.  All these players are very close on the standard of play that they, all are in with a great chance of winning during the season.

Thanks to Bernie & Paul and staff of Sharkx for all their support towards women’s billiards.  Our next event is on Thursday 7th February, the Stars Academy Masters National Billiards Ranking 1 again at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge.
