Valerie Maloney from Offaly won the 6th Intermediate Ranking at D’Arcy McGees Spawell recently. Her win puts the current Intermediate number 1, into provisional number 1 for the new season.
This is a great result for Valerie as she set new records within the RILSA Intermediate Tour along with the Intermediate Billiards Tour finishing number 1 in both last season.
We saw much improvement in our Scholarship player, Roisin Beale from Newbridge making progress as she certainly had a good day at Spawell making the final and in doing so, gave a good account of herself.
In the final, Roisin started well taking the black for frame 1 in this best of 3 match, Valerie responded well in frame 2 to close out the frame on the blue, pink to level. Frame 3 was also close going down to the colours where Valerie showed good composure to pot well and take the frame and title at Spawell.
Roisin is delighted to start the new season at number 2 while Emirjeta Doda from Dublin moves into 3rd spot and Katie French (Kildare) moves up to 4th, all great results for these young players of the future. We look forward to yet another successful season on the ladies Intermediate Tour.
Congratulations to Valerie on her win and well done to Roisin on a fine performance.
Thanks to all the players for their participation and support. Thanks to Richie and staff of Spawell for all their help and support.
