World Billiards are delighted to announce its plans for Women’s Billiards going forward. The World Billiards Women’s Tour will be established in 2020 with an initial three events planned across the UK and Ireland in addition to a World Championship, feeding into a new women’s ranking list. The aim of the initiative is to foster, develop and promote the women’s game, with the newly established sub-committee responsible for the tour also looking at opportunities to establish events in more countries worldwide. The first event will be the Women’s British Open in Kings Lynn on a date to be advised in March.
The members of World Billiards’ sub-committee for Women’s Billiards are:
Chris Coumbe (WBL Board Representative)
This is a fantastic opportunity for our players in RILSA to get involved and represent their country on the World Women’s Billiards Tour that is now just beginning a new initiative for female billiard players around the World.
We want to thank World Billiards Limited for their help and support in getting this off the ground. The sub committee listed above are dedicated to making this happen, commencing with events in Kings Lynn and Leeds UK and for the very first time in Ireland.
Its hoped that once up and running that other countries will follow suit and run open events for females on an annual basis which will carry World Ranking Points. A lot of work yet to be done but it has started in earnest and we are looking forward to a brighter future for female billiards.
With the above announcement by the WBL, RILSA have started their preparations for the 2020 tour. Over the past number of years we have been busy developing female billiards here in Ireland with the help of World and National Billiards coach, Aidan Murray along with the support and kind sponsorship from Paul Traynor at Sharkx Newbridge.
A number of training evenings is on our calendar along with competitions to help our players improve and prepare for the upcoming events during the year.

Annette Newman (Carlow)
Valerie Maloney (Offaly)
